You have kindly set down for us the practical details of the tour you wish to oraganise and from this we can build an intinerary. It would be a great help in our task if we could understand better what you see as the spirit of this tour and we would value very much your own description of the pilgrimage as you view it.
To guide a little, from our experience, we identify three broad categories.
1. DEVOTIONAL - This would mean an itinerary based solely around acts of worship and devotion each day viz. Mass/Eucharist and communal prayers, each day or stage of the journey taking on a theme or development of a theme. Places en route would be almost exclusively of religious interest.
2. RELIGIOUS TOURISM - This is an expression commonly used in Italy to describe a tour that is half devotional and half holiday. It would mean that the itinerary had a specific religous leaning to it but at the same time included visiting places of general interest too. Daily Mass/Eucharist would generally be part of this pilgrimage.
3. PARISH HOLIDAY - The purpose of this type of tour would be expressly a holiday to be enjoyed by the parish together, there would be little or no specific religious activity and the emphasis of the itinerary would be much more on general sightseeing or relaxation.
These are merely generalised snapshots of what "pilgrimage" can mean to different groups; they are in no way meant to typecast or proscribe what you do. Quite simply the more you can tell us below what you hope for from your pilgrimage the better the job we can do for you.
